Thailand, Phi Phi Island 2002

You will see a report of  my diving-holidays in September 2002.

After a ten hours flight from Frankfurt/Germany we landed in Bangkok, in order to change to the airplane to Phuket, where we then had 3 hours, to visit town and  temple-hill. (see pictures)

By ferry-boat and 2 hours journey we came to the "Bay of Ton Sai" on Phi Phi Island (see pictures). A smaller tourist-boat picked us up and brought us to Phi Phi Island Village, which was our location for the two weeks in paradise. At least some small fischer-boats- so called "Longtails"- came, to bring us to the reception at the beach, where we got a tropical softdrink.

Phi Phi Island Village is built in a wonderful valley between  palm-trees. Small traditional wooden houses on sticks are aranged like a large maze in a tropical garden. The houses are airconditioned and comfortable. For the english/tropical Breakfast we had to go to the beach-terrace with a marveless view over the bay. Dinner you get in the hotel-restaurant. Service ist very good, but only few of the waiters really speek english.
The dive-center is only three minutes to go along the beach. Equipment is good, each diver gets alu-tanks, life-vests and "Oktopus". Air-pressure is exactly 200 bar. For the dive-excursions are used "Longtails", which are extremely loud or a speed-boat, which is more comfortable, but costs 15 Dollars more. Prices generally depend on the needed parts. We had our own snorcheling-equipment and had to pay 37 Dollars per dive. Mostly we dived twice a day with one hour brake at the beach.

Now I wish you much fun by looking through the lens of my uw-camera! Especially for my friends in USA, Australia, Canada, Japan and Italy there are some comments in english. You reach the under water pictures by selecting the numbered dive-sites in the lists of the two tables "Phi Phi Don" and "Phi Phi Leh". Enlarge and back by clicking on the pictures.
